August 27, 2016Format: Kindle EditionBella Vita Salon is the ‘go to’ place for news of import. It’s also the launch point from which author Susan Lynn Solomon unwraps her own unique brand of storytelling. Using first person, the author confers on character Emlyn Goode the dual tasks of protagonist and narrator, sharing her insights and uncertainties with an unflinching self-deprecation that made me feel like she was sitting across from me at a shared table. A novelette, BELLA VITA gives more of what we first discovered in Solomon’s THE MAGIC OF MURDER, a 5 star full length work that focused on a modern day witch coming to terms with her inherited powers. I sense that the author in her enthusiasm just had to share her down-to-earth character one more time before the follow-up to MAGIC releases. Thank you for that. BELLA VITA is a nice bridge between the novels. 5 stars

DIME IS A SIGN SSC.jpg

A Dime is a Sign Through Time

If you find a dime,
You will know that I’m
Sending thoughts of love
Through the veil of time.

Ten cents with a silver shine,
A sense sent you to help remind
That someone who left you behind
Is always living in your mind.

Sending love and vibes,
Felt as psychic sighs …
The ones that you miss,
Send you a kiss …

Great story!!

November 3, 2016Format: Kindle Edition

I loved this new addition to the Timekeepers series. It wasn’t all fairytale driven, but touched on a critical, yet disturbing part of our history – WW2 and the Nazis. Again, the traveling group were a great cast of characters and interesting. I think Sharon has done an excellent job in building her characters. The scenes were action packed and you actually were afraid for the kids. I also liked the fact that there was some darkness to the story, not all “happyland”. And she touched on other subjects that a lot of middle and young authors are afraid to.

I believe the youth of today will benefit from stories that outline our jaded past and teach them that not all is roses and whip cream. How else do we learn if we don’t learn from our past?

I did enjoy it from beginning to end and would recommend this book for middle grade kids, and a few big kids as well! The history is welcomed and the story, however a reminder for is, is wonderful.

Fifty Sheds of Books5.0 out of 5 stars Planet CrisisReviewed in the United Kingdom on August 9, 2020Verified Purchase

Cherime MacFarlane is an excellent author. I’m familiar with her realistic romances, but in Planet Crisis she demonstrates that she is equally adept at co-writing excellent science fiction stories too.

From the atmospheric cover, to the engaging storyline to the well-crafted prose Planet Crisis is a quality read. At novella length, this is a story that can be enjoyed in one sitting, and therefore is ideal for when you have an hour to spare or are looking to offer your mind an enjoyable, diverting break.

Highly recommended. I also suggest you check out the author’s extensive back catalogue, especially if you have an interest in romance or Alaska.

Cliffy Chippy lives in Chippyville with his Mom and Dad and three brothers and three sisters. They were all chocolate chip cookies. He also lived with his regular dog Rockwell. He had a secret that made him very sad. He didn’t play with the kids at school he waited and played at home with Rockwell. One day his teacher asked him to read a page during class. He couldn’t do it. His classmates giggled at that. His teacher sent the children outside so she could talk with Cliffy who was crying. He told her his secret. “I wish I was a Brownie.”. Did she laugh at him? Did she tell him stop, that was wrong? You get to listen/ read and find out her answer she gave Cliffy with a smile.
This is a cute book about fitting in. Even though you might look like a group of people you might not feel like you belong. This book gives a rather simple and truthful explanation to this problem. This book is also a wonderful conversation starter.

Amazon Customer5.0 out of 5 stars Even though you know “who did it” early in the book, the book is very suspenseful!Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2018

I found it hard to put this book down! The author does an excellent job setting up the characters making it easy for the reader to get to know them even if they did not read previous books. I loved that the story took place in Virginia Beach with references to many of the local places I like to frequent.
I have read the other two suspense books by this author, Too Later To Run and Donation Man. I can hardly wait for the next one!

Fane: Journal of an Alpha Hellhound: paranormal romance with attitude (Diaries of the Cwn Annwn)

Tarian Green
4.0 out of 5 stars Something different.Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2018

This is an unusual book as you’re looking through the eyes of Fane a young hellhound raised on the periphery of the pack with his sister Roxana. At the start, the reader gets an insight into the hellhound pack and the struggle for status and dominance. When their mother dies, the Queen sees potential in Fane and trains him to be a successful Alpha. Both brother and sister learn the skills and acquire abilities in preparation for going topside and into the human world. Once he becomes an Alpha, his loyalty is entirely to his queen, and with that, he is tasked with the destruction of the Lupie pack. Fane takes on the traits of a motorbike loving geek, interested in computers and electronics. Likewise, Roxana hides her beauty under baggy clothes and enjoys fixing bikes. Then once above ground, a mysterious visitor Stephania appears and claims to be a previous member of the pack. Fane is suspicious as she could have been turned by another pack but also feels attraction.
This book is an interesting struggle with one’s own pack, other packs and humans. At first, I was confused but so glad I persevered as the story developed into a page-turning adventure. I enjoyed being in such a different world and seeing things from another perspective. Those who enjoyed the ‘Twilight’ series may also enjoy this one.

What lies behind the stones? Who lives there? Only the Faces Behind the Stones Know the Answers!FACES BEHIND THE STONES FRAN LEWIS

Driving down the rocky path I saw the overgrown grass, weeds and poison ivy overtaking the outer perimeter of the bushes. The smell of mildew, the stench of the dried bones of animals killed by cars along this dirt road coming up from the ground, the sadness on the faces of the drivers in the cars behind us; you could feel the pain and sorrow. As you looked inside the cars and saw the faces of the drivers, you began to wonder what they were thinking, their thoughts and feelings as they travelled down life’s highway, possibly for the very last time. What stories lie behind the faces behind the wheel of each car? What stories lie hidden? Faces…so, so many stories. Here are seven that will make chills run down your spine and make you wonder:

5.0 out of 5 stars Faces Behind the StonesReviewed in the United States on June 2, 2012Verified Purchase

Faces Behind the Stones #1 is an eerie collection of tales told by the dead themselves. Each of the seven stories reveals what events brought them to their final resting place – an obscure, neglected corner of a graveyard.

Each character tells his or her own story. Often, the reader is left wondering–murder or suicide? All the people are forgotten, their graves ignored by the living, their graves overgrown. Why did these people have to die?

Sadly, none of the dead seemed to matter to the people they left behind. There is no one to grieve for them except a lone stranger who picks her way through the deserted cemetery.

Faces Behind the Stones is an incredible collection of stories, each more eerie and spine tingling than the last. Fran Lewis’ style is chatty and easy to read. The reader feels drawn into the characters as if they really are the ones speaking.

I highly recommend this creepy compilation and look forward to the other books in the series.
