Praise from readers:

★★★★★ – “Not one who regularly picks up science fiction, I found Collier’s book to be engaging from the very beginning. There is so much room for supposition regarding possible future stories. Well done.”

★★★★★ – “An unusual book with interesting characters and plot. The author’s vast imagination has created an incredible world, but shows that no matter where or in what time we live we all have the same emotions and desires. I recommend Return of the Maca to anyone who enjoys a great story.”

“Fantastic character development… twists, turns and surprises kept me turning the pages. I’m looking forward to the next Mari Collier novel.”

“I felt it was gripping and anyone who is a fan of the dystopian/thriller genres would enjoy.” – The City: The Jane Harvest by A. Nicky Hjort

Winning battles means Ink honors, prestige, and life itself. …Yet nobody understands what losing truly means.

On another planet two hundred years in the future, twenty-one-year-old Isla Jane struggles helplessly to figure out who she is and what her world really means. Marked with a forbidden tattoo of the rising sun, she is a natural champion of humanity and a gifted warrior in Heats– lavish battles fought in the conjoined minds of the participants for the morbid amusement of the masses.

Despite Isla’s desire to fade into the background, she emerges as an obvious leader of her people when the senseless assassination of a youth forces her to face the truth. Her volatile world, disguised by its elaborate battles and constant mayhem, is a prison without bars and a coffin, the lid already half-closed, that they must escape.

But when she vows to find a way to bring her people back home, Isla will have to deconstruct consciousness and the very nature of the space-time continuum to unravel good from evil, truth from lies, and survival from true love.

Welcome to the City–where it takes lives to save lives…

Loved Hjort’s tone!

I sincerely want more!! I just had a blast reading this story. I felt it was gripping and anyone who is a fan of the dystopian/thriller genres would enjoy. It’s somewhat similar to other dystopian novels, as it’s hard to be completely original, however, I found Hjort’s tone gave this story something different that I enjoyed exploring as I read each new page.

She boards the Earth Starship Giuseppe Verdi with its questionable leader, Captain Ben Jacobs anyway. It’s the fastest way home. Her quarters have a full bath, a space view window, and a large, real bed! How bad could this rule-breaking, authority-defying Captain Casanova be? High Council hates him, true, but his crew loves him. Surely, she’s too old and tired to be drawn into this bad boy of the quadrant’s personal circus.
Will Ambassador Redmond get the quiet, uneventful ride home she craves?

Space Romance with an out-of-this-world cliffhanger!

If you love Science Fiction, Romance, Adventure, and a cliffhanger out of nowhere, then this book is for you. Carol Ann Kauffman writes clean romance and with her details and your own mind, you don’t need hot and sexy, it’s already there. I love that about her romance novels. She allows me to enjoy the true meaning of the story and lets my imagination do the rest.
This is about two people heading home to Earth. Neither expected love to come into play and neither expected huge trouble from an ex. But when you are told on the ship that your spouse has passed away, well that gives you permission to move on, even if it is with the Captain of a spaceship.
Well, there is a huge change of events with one going to jail, one being shot out of the garage shoot, and one who just wants to be happy with a new life on earth. There is lovemaking in front of a huge window looking out at the vast space and stars. There is vengeance and madness and downright evil. But there is a mystery mixed throughout it all and so many surprises along the way, especially the end.
I love Carol Ann Kauffman’s work and highly recommend her books to everyone!

Dr. Laura Martin, Chief Extraterrestrial Life Scientist at The Touchstone Institute of Oceanographic Research, noticed troubling but subtle changes in the Atlantic Ocean. Before she could make sense of it all, her longtime assistant abruptly walked out. Laura hired young, handsome Scott Conner to be her personal assistant. Mayhem ensued, mainly because of Zara, the mermaid/siren/monster in the basement of the Touchstone Institute, who eyed on Scott as her possible mate in a plot for total domination of planet Earth.“The Touchstone Institute of Oceanographic Research is the most fantastic, exhilarating place on the planet to work. It is high-energy, exciting, sometimes maddening, often frightening, heart-pounding work. It’s not a job. It’s a lifetime commitment. It gets in your blood. It grabs you by the throat and possesses you, body and soul. And it is work. If you’re not prepared to work your ass off day in and day out, weekends, holidays, your birthday, and your mamma’s birthday, leave now.”

Thrilling.

This is a unique read, being a blend of science fiction with romance and a touch of mystery thrown in for good measure. The mermaid in this story is an alien and the last of her species kept in a special tank at Touchstone, a secure institute for the study of aliens. This is not the fabulous creature sitting on a rock, combing her hair, and looking in her mirror while she sings to hapless mariners, she is much darker and way more dangerous. Laura is the scientist in charge, and everyone wants to work with her, including Scott, who though overqualified, begs her for a place. What happens next is unexpected and thrilling. Who will survive and who will not? A great read.

THE AUTHOR DELIVERS ANOTHER SENSATIONAL ADVENTURE! THE SILVER AND THE GREEN BY MARI COLLIER!

THE SILVER AND THE GREEN CHRONICLES OF TONATH BOOK 2

MARI COLLIER

World Building Sci-Fi Western With a Twist!

December 20, 2018Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver.” -Martin Luther

There’s a thread of unity amid battles, gunfights and arguments that is woven through this Sci-Fi Western novel from the beginning until the end. These factions are Silver or Green, something the inhabitants of Tonath find disheartening, because the disagreements about the correct star path leads to war and suffering. One character by the name of Brother Amos persists. As a Seeker, he’s rather impartial to war. In his opinion, a good map of the stars will provide clear answers and the best Pathway. Only time will tell which side, is correct about their assumptions. There are so many stars that need to be charted and many things to learn. We find him traveling with a group of Wayfarers, moving as far away from danger as possible. Among the Wayfarers is Venta, a single woman with a dream about building a refuge for divorced women called the Haven–and Jack Donald–a man with two hearts–from Thalia—another planet–who loves her. They need to escape the Green Marauders, Bentz and the Mechs so that Brother Amos can build an institute of his own and say, “We are neither Silver, nor Green. We are the Silver and the Green.”
