“Get ready for a clean short mystery which will keep you enthralled and wanting to read more!” – January Black Ice (A Cat Collier Mystery, Book 1) by Carol Ann Kauffman

Mary Catherine Collier is called to the penthouse apartment of the city’s very rich, most influential lawyer, Detrick Bittmor. He has a very personal assignment for her. It involves a mysterious young man who sits on a park bench every day at noon and stares up at Bittmor’s top floor apartment.
Mary Catherine, or Cat, as she’s better known, has a soft spot for this lawyer with a nasty reputation. There’s something about this old man she likes and even finds charming.
Detrick Bittmor thinks the young man on the park bench resembles a younger version of himself. He thinks this young man could be his son from an affair he had many years ago with a beautiful New Year lawyer. This man could be his only heir.
And old man Bittmor isn’t getting any younger.

I Love Cat Collier Mysteries!

I absolutely love these mysteries! I love Cat Collier and how she rolls with life. I’d die to have her fiancé Carter and his father as my in law. Nola cracks me up and this time I really thought she would fashion herself out of trouble. I love the mystery part of the book and how all the books tie together. This one was really good because of the other books being brought back in and you got some answers. These characters are fabulous together and they make the book exciting. I can’t wait until the next book to come out!

Murder, a police procedural, and romance!

Murder, a police procedural, and romance. What more could a lover of the mystery genre ask for in a novella?

In “Playing Dead” Rhonnie Patterson’s twin brother Bo has a flash drive with incriminating evidence. What’s on that flash drive and who has killed to get it? When Bo is beaten to death in an alley, this is the knot Police Inspector Gibbons needs to unravel. But the investigation gets complicated when it becomes apparent that the killer now believes Rhonnie has the flash drive, and is coming after her. How to keep her safe? Enter Brian, a grief counselor and an old friend of Rhonnie’s. In the midst of mayhem love blossoms. The story moves from Toronto to cabin in the north of Canada, and the tension builds.

While Gibbons, Rhonnie and Brian search for answers, “Playing Dead” twists and turns in ways I didn’t see coming. This novella is definitely a fun read and worth ever y one of the 5-stars I’ve given it.

“A cute, cozy whodunit.” – “March Blues” (A Cat Collier Mystery 3) by Carol Ann Kauffman

#AuthorNetwork,#IndieBooksPromo, #amreading, #amwriting, #indiepromo

Small-town red-head Cat Collier runs an private investigation service called Red Cat Investigation out of her office in the beautiful Palazzo Castellano with the help of her secretary, Nola White, an ex-client Cat took in because she had nowhere else to go, her boyfriend, Erick “Carter” Larsen, and Carter’s father, the wealthy, influential, and shady lawyer, Detrick Bittmor.

In this third installment of the Cat Collier Mystery series, after escaping from captivity in an abandoned train car, Cat stumbles upon a homeless man at the long deserted train station, who helps her get home to Carter. Detrick discovers he knows this homeless man as the one-time legendary saxophone player who played in the downstairs bar when they were both young and the family embarks on rehabilitating the sax player and reopening the bar, “The Blues.”

A cute, cozy whodunit.

By SNOOPYREVIEWER

The presence of Carter, Cat, and Nola is having a profound effect on Detrick Bittmore in a positive way. The author has softened the once crotchety and rather crooked attorney.
Once again we are treated to a novella that is full of romance, humor and a bit of action. I could not put this book down and enjoyed every word. This is another five-star read!

A captivating story.

t is a skilful writer indeed who can captivate a reader, transport them to a new place and situation, introduce them to new people,, and then hold them there throughout the story. Carol Ann Kauffman is one such writer. Having been impressed by her writing style when reading her fantasy novella ‘Red Sarah’, which I enjoyed immensely, I was keen to pick up another of her works.

‘January Black Ice’ is a delightful, feel-good cozy mystery. The story is really well written. It flows easily, has great variation in pace and tone where it’s needed, and maintains a high level of engagement between the readers and the characters through tense and relaxed moments alike.

Kauffman writes lively, likeable characters whose stories intertwine in such a way that the reader thinks it’s going to be a romance until the mystery bursts onto the page in front of them, seamlessly turning the story in a new direction for local journalist Cat and for Carter, the mysteeious new guy in town.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I’m pleased to see that there are more titles in the series. I’m definitely looking forward to spending more time with Cat Collier.
