Sexy Cop and Sweet Tattoo Artist

Oh my god. This book. All the feels. ALL. THE. FEELS. After running across the recommendation for Trish Edmisten in another author’s Facebook group I read book one in the Nice Ink series. After finishing that book (a five-star read) I immediately grabbed this book and devoured it! Derek and Flynn, the main characters of this book, were introduced in book one. Derek is a cop (hot gay guy with handcuffs) and Flynn is a tattoo artist (hot gay guy covered in ink). Derek initially meets Flynn when he gets a tattoo from one of Flynn’s coworkers (who ends up dating Derek’s brother), and is immediately attracted to him. Flynn is attracted to Derek but is resistant to become involved with anyone. Flynn is an abuse victim and his feelings about attraction and sex are very complicated. Flynn is “coerced” into a date with Derek, but finds himself enjoying the date. Derek quickly realizes he must approach his relationship with Flynn differently. He makes Flynn realize that he wants more from him than just sex. He wants all that Flynn has to offer.I absolutely devoured this book. I stayed up too late, was reading at work, and sitting in my car on my lunch break to finish this book. Flynn is such a sensitive soul. He suffered so much in his childhood. He fought for himself and has overcome so much. Derek is a self-assured, openly gay cop. He is naturally protective and is devoted to his family. Ms. Edmisten did such an amazing job building, describing, and bringing these characters to life. The understanding, compassion, and support that Derek showed to Flynn brought literal tears to my eyes. And of course, the sexy times are HOT HOT HOT! And there is a HEA for this amazing couple. I can’t recommend this book and this series enough! Read it now!!

From Book 1: For the last five years, Heath Mitchell’s only priority has been running a successful tattoo shop. Relationships haven’t been on his radar, but as his thirtieth birthday gets closer, Heath realizes just how lonely he is. Like an answer to his prayers, Ned Nice comes into his shop. Despite the instant attraction between them, a dark secret in Ned’s past makes him afraid to get too close to Heath. Ned isn’t the only one with secrets though. Heath is hiding a secret so big it could be a deal breaker. Can Heath and Ned find a way to overcome the demons of their pasts, or is it insane to try?

Author’s Note: This is a 91,000 word novel with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA. Trigger warning: Mentions of prior sexual assault.

From Book 2: Flynn Murphy doesn’t need a man, especially not the cocky and confident Derek Nice. So what if Derek is a cop? Flynn learned a long time ago that just because someone is supposed to do the right thing doesn’t mean he will. Trusting someone is a mistake he’s never repeating again.

Derek isn’t worried that Flynn isn’t letting him get close yet. All Derek needs is one chance to show Flynn how good they can be together. And he’s not stopping until he gets it.

From Book 3:

Cooper Mitchell isn’t what most men expect. Most men see his silver hair and dressed up dog and assume he’s a sassy little bottom. Cooper may be sassy, but he’s nobody’s bottom boy. That’s just fine with Roger Nice. All it takes is one look and Roger knows Cooper is everything he wants, but can Cooper be the type of Dom he needs? Or are there some things that are just too much to ask? Roger doesn’t think so, at least he hopes not, but will Cooper agree?

Note: This is the third book in the series. While it can be read as a standalone, the other two books should be read first for maximum enjoyment. No cheating, no cliffhangers and a guaranteed HEA.

From Book 4:

Everyone else can fall in love and live happily ever after, but Xavier Owens doesn’t plan on doing the same. With a successful business, plenty of friends, and no shortage of willing bed partners, he always thought he had everything he needed. The only thing missing in his life is someone to share his kink, but that’s not going to happen. The last time Xavier let someone into that part of his life left him with a bruised ego and a broken heart. While both have long since mended, he’s not interested in falling in love again. Fate has other plans in the form of sweet and shy Oliver Nice. There’s something about the man that draws Xavier to him like a moth to a flame. Hopefully, this time he won’t get burned.

This is 78K word novel with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA. Although it’s part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

From Book 5:

Damian Bishop thought he found love once, but he was wrong. Suffering one heartbreaking loss after another, he’s done with men. Sure, it’s lonely sometimes, but he’s got a good job, great friends, and a cat. What more does he need?

Kiel Nice feels the same. Why settle for one man when the sexy firefighter can have any man he wants?

Fate, and their friends and family, have other plans for these two. There’s only so many times they can be thrown together before the chemistry between them becomes too much to ignore. And maybe just maybe the thing they’ve always been most afraid of? Maybe this could work.

This is the final novel in the Nice Ink series. It’s a 70K word novel with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA despite a few bumps along the way. Although it’s part of a series, each book follows a different couple and can be read as a standalone.

Charming story!

Great finale to the Nice Ink series (though the author hinted that X’s little brother Bailey would get his own story). Damien was sweet and Kiel was irresistible. :). All the guys from the previous stories were there, including the irrepressible Cooper and growly X.
Loved it!

Each book is better than the last

Great storyline. Each book in this series gets better. I love the vulnerability of Roger and his secret kink, the emotion gave me the feels, and Prince Harry William made me smile. This book is a great mix of hot sex, huge emotion, and love.

Another winner!!!

Ride or Die is the second book in the Nice Ink series, though it can be read as a standalone. All of the featured characters from the first book play a role in this book too. The two main characters, Derek and Flynn actually met in the first book. Although Derek showed an interest in Flynn from their first meeting, Flynn’s feelings were not known. In Ride or Die, we find out that Flynn returns Derek’s interest, but won’t act on it, for reasons of his own. Despite not receiving much of an encouragement, Derek doesn’t want to give up on Flynn and manages to get a first date with him. That goes well and they form a relationship. Flynn is still reluctant though, but Derek, suspecting something troubling in Flynn’s past, decides to be patient. Only time will tell if his patience will prove fruitful. It was great to see all of the characters returning and their interactions with each other. Like the first book, there is a lot of humour and good-natured ribbing going on between the characters.

New series set in tattoo parlor

This book is the first in a 5 book series, though it can be read as a standalone, since the next book will feature a different couple. The main characters are Heath and Ned. Heath is a tattoo artist and owns his own business with his brother Cooper. The other tattoo artists are X and Flynn and their Manager is Damian. All the men get along well and are like brothers to each other. Ned is a nurse and is one of 5 quintuplets. Heath and Ned meet when Ned’s brother Derek comes to Heath’s tattoo parlor to get a tattoo done. Ned is skittish of relationships, but Heath is patient and with Derek’s help starts dating Ned. The only problem is that both Ned and Heath are hiding something secret from each other, which could potentially pull them apart. There is a lot of humour throughout the book as well as deep emotion. The end was satisfying and I’m eagerly looking forward to the next installment.

The best of the five Nice Ink books! A must read.

Another great book from Trish Edmisten!
If you’ve read the other Nice Ink books you’ve been patiently waiting for Damien and Kiel to get their own happy ending! I think this one ended up being my favorite of the series! After reading some teasers and knowing what we know about the characters from previous books, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this one as much.
BOY WAS I WRONG! Kiel and Damien’s friendship/eventual love story was perfect and sweet and everything that each of them needed. They’re soul mates who just needed time and space to find each other.
Trish Edmisten is an author who I will read ANYTHING and EVERYTHING she publishes and she never disappoints ❤
OKAY! Time to reread the series now 🙂
