Everyone else can fall in love and live happily ever after, but Xavier Owens doesn’t plan on doing the same. With a successful business, plenty of friends, and no shortage of willing bed partners, he always thought he had everything he needed. The only thing missing in his life is someone to share his kink, but that’s not going to happen. The last time Xavier let someone into that part of his life left him with a bruised ego and a broken heart. While both have long since mended, he’s not interested in falling in love again. Fate has other plans in the form of sweet and shy Oliver Nice. There’s something about the man that draws Xavier to him like a moth to a flame. Hopefully, this time he won’t get burned. This is a 78K word novel with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA. Although it’s part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Exactly what I was hoping for!
I have read (and loved) each of the previous Nice Ink books, and this was no exception. I wasn’t sure what X and Oliver’s story would involve, and I wasn’t expecting some of the twists in the book, but they just made the story even better. The simple joy of the characters in each other was heartwarming, especially in these uncertain times. I received an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Larriane arrived in Florida with hope, a new job, and a new identity. A hurricane came barreling towards her sanctuary. Alone in the world, she’d been taken in by the Clere’s Restaurant clan and felt welcome. What was she thinking? She should’ve known that you can’t run away from your past.
It is beautifully illustrated as well
This is a delightful story about friendship and lessons learned while growing up. It is beautifully illustrated as well! Inspirational for aspiring young writers and artists. Highly recommended for all ages!
Cooper Mitchell isn’t what most men expect. Most men see his silver hair and dressed-up dog and assume he’s a sassy little bottom. Cooper may be sassy, but he’s nobody’s bottom boy. That’s just fine with Roger Nice. All it takes is one look and Roger knows Cooper is everything he wants, but can Cooper be the type of Dom he needs? Or are there some things that are just too much to ask? Roger doesn’t think so, at least he hopes not, but will Cooper agree? Note: This is the third book in the series. While it can be read as a standalone, the other two books should be read first for maximum enjoyment. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.
Each book is better than the last
Great storyline. Each book in this series gets better. I love the vulnerability of Roger and his secret kink, the emotion gave me the feels, and Prince Harry William made me smile. This book is a great mix of hot sex, huge emotion, and love.
Jason Donovan has a secret. The Clere’s Restaurant’s drama has been unfolding in front of his eyes. If he can see it, so can the restaurant’s other guests. But there’s something the servers aren’t telling him, and he will get to the bottom of it. Kat couldn’t get out of the restaurant fast enough. Funny how things work out…she never thought she’d meet someone like Jason. Secrets, lies, affairs, and deceit are served with a smile at Clere’s Restaurant…
Excellent short story that entertains

From Book 1: For as long as he can remember, Nate’s dreamed of being an MMA fighter. Nothing is going to stand in his way and no one is going to distract him. Everything is going according to plan when Natalie comes along. Even though he wasn’t looking for love, Nate can’t help falling fast and hard. One day, she’ll see the truth inside of him. Until then, Nate’s determined to keep Natalie in his life for as long as he can.
An excellent book
This book truly touched my heart and made me cry in some spots and cheer in others. To me, this is a must-read book. I appreciate the author for having the guts to write a book on such a sensitive subject.
From Book 2: When his best friend decided to join the Army after high school graduation, there was no question Joel would join too. Best friends since kindergarten, the two of them did everything together, and this was no different. A routine mission changed their lives forever. Slade ended up paralyzed while Joel lost his leg. Joel never expected to live with one leg, but he wasn’t going to let it break him. Like he did with everything else, he adapted, and he accepted that he was never going to find love. Women might want to sleep with a war hero, but they sure as hell don’t want to live with and take care of one. That theory proves true until Courtney comes along. Beautiful, independent Courtney with her wicked sense of humor is the perfect woman for Joel. All he has to do is trust her enough to accept that he doesn’t have to stand on his own anymore.
Edmisten has a wonderful gift!
I love how Trish Edmisten brings her characters to life and puts them in realistic situations. This is the second book I’ve read by her. Joel is self-conscience about his missing leg, but his best friend, Slade, is paralyzed and will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. They joke and tease each other but when the PTSD hits they’re there for each other. Then Joel meets Courtney and finds he’s falling in love but has his reservations. I couldn’t put this marvelous book down! I highly recommend Standing on His Own!
From Book 3: At the age of eighteen, Slade couldn’t wait to join the Army and get away from the boredom of small-town living. Two years later, his life is irrevocably changed when an IED blast leaves him paralyzed from the waist down. Though he’s back in the one place he was determined to get away from, things could be worse. At least he’s got a good group of friends to help him out, and that will have to be enough. No woman wants to be stuck with a broken man. Then Mac comes crashing into his life, stirring up feelings that Slade never thought he would feel again. As much as he wants her, Slade can’t believe she feels the same. Will his insecurities keep them apart, or will Mac be able to convince Slade she loves him the way he is?
Author’s Note: Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This is a 68K word novel with a guaranteed HEA.
Another great entry to the series
This book features characters from the previous two installments in the series but can be read as a standalone. One of the main characters, Slade, was introduced in the previous books, but Mac is a new character. Slade is in a wheelchair due to an injury suffered while in the Army and he also suffers from PTSD and has terrible nightmares. Because of this, he doesn’t believe he will ever find anyone that could love him. But then he meets Mac and starts to have hope that he too can find happiness. From the start, Mac is attracted to Slade and wants to be part of his life, but Slade worries she won’t be able to be with him once she realizes the difficulties she will face if they are in a relationship together. Will Slade overcome his fears or will he push Mac away?
From Book 4: Being born blind, Ken has always lived a sheltered life, thanks to his overprotective mother and older sisters. If it wasn’t for his best friend, Stone, he’d never have any kind of freedom, let alone a life. Twenty-one years old and still living at home, Ken is ready to be independent. When he moves into his own apartment and meets his new neighbor, Cassandra, he knows he’s made the right decision. Ken wants Cassandra, and the feeling seems to be mutual, but he’s worried. Can she accept that he can be everything she needs, or will she let his blindness keep her from taking a chance?
Wonderful book in a wonderful series! Must buy! You will fall in love with these characters
Trish Edmisten’s New Beginnings series is my absolute favorite and was looking forward to this to be released ever since I read the preview for Ken’s story and saw him in other books. I preordered it the second it went up and was beyond excited to see it in my library this morning. THIS BOOK AND THIS SERIES. I love them so much. They’re so realistic and the dialogue feels authentic and natural and every conversation they have isn’t some poetic monologue. The interpersonal relationships are so REAL and wonderful. And the characters are honest and insightful and I want to be their friends/feel like I am. I’ve been SO excited for Stone’s story since I started the series and this book made me even more excited and fall more in love with Joss. Love Cassandra and Ken’s story ❤ Now it’s time to reread the first three and then reread this one!!
The only thing i dislike about this series is the cover-art. I almost passed by this series because of it, I’m such a “judge a book by it’s cover” person but I’m so glad I got pulled in by the book descriptions because this series is SO GOOOOOD

Tevin Frazier nor Darius Glass couldn’t recall a day they weren’t in love with Lauren Marie RyalsLauren never understood that either man wanted her and continued with her education and life, and became a successful executive for a toy company. Darius returned, also, but a little late; Lauren had fallen for and married Tevin, and at death, they did part. In Déjà Vu, Lauren, Tevin, and Darius have all passed on, and have chosen to return to Earth. Their souls find each other, again; this time, who will Lauren choose? Excellent book from beginning to end! I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough! It was hard to put down!
