Format: Kindle EditionWriting is Murder by Susan Lynn Solomon is a standalone cozy mystery in the author’s Emlyn Goode Mystery series. In addition to being a cozy mystery, there is a paranormal aspect to the story as Emlyn Goode is a descendent of a purported witch.
I loved the rich details Ms. Solomon included in her descriptions of the area. The author vividly describes an area of New York with which she is clearly familiar. Her descriptions of haunted locations are bone chilling!
Emlyn Goode is a writer who happens to be dating the local law enforcement. She can’t help but become involved in solving some local crimes since her witchy senses frequently lead her to trouble. I loved the historical fiction aspects in Writing is Murder as well as the inclusion of Emlyn’s writing group.
The characters are all likable, and their banter is fun. Their relationships definitely gave a homey, small town feel to the setting. The plot has a few intertwined threads that are all pulled together by the end of the story. Ms. Solomon has delivered a smart, engaging cozy mystery with plenty of clues and red herrings to keep her readers guessing until the end.
Have you ever loved, been loved, been confused about love, or suffered from loss of love? All these feelings have been captured and shared in the word of heartfelt poems, compiled over many years by a retired teacher and award-winning author
February 19, 2018Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseIn years past, poetry was written and enjoyed by many, today there is the idea, including among some professors, (who I have heard say, they don’t understand poetry.) That insinuates that a good or great poem is something that is indecipherable to most. I am not one of them, as with great poets, such as Maya Angelou, Robert Stevenson, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, there is a story in the poems, a sense of place and emotion flowing through the verses. ‘A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS,’ by Sherrill S. Cannon is one such book. It is rich in emotion, stories flow through the verses, and tales of love and loss are ripe within its pages. It is a glorious book that should be savored from start to finish and this reader feels that one would have to be devoid of life experience not to find many in this book that do not strike a cord deep inside of them. Ms. Cannon’s poetry takes on the issues of grief, dying, being the object of idolatry, as, in her poem Pedestal, love, loss, and letting go. A magnificent journey through life. A few of those that struck a deep chord in me was ‘Pedestals,’ That tells us the tale of someone who is stuck upon a pedestal and cannot become truly human for fear of losing their love. ‘The Real Me,’ that speaks of the little part of oneself that is seldom if ever shown to anyone. ‘To See The Future,’ shows us all that we might lose if we could see the future. For we would no longer be living in the present, the joy, sorrow, love, grief, beauty, and glory of life would be forever shaded with the knowledge of what’s to come. ‘Does Memory Last,’ a question each of us may ponder, when we lose a loved one or are facing death. ‘Old Woman,’ is a poignant look at the young woman that exists in all, under the veil of wrinkles and aging. There were so many poems in this book that touched cords deeply within me, as to bring smiles to my lips, joy to my heart, thoughtfulness to my mind and grief inside of me. A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS is an astoundingly, wonderous trip through the thoughts, life, and emotions we all go through in life. In the pages of this book, everyone will find something that will help them grow or understand themselves better. I highly recommend it.

‘Love is a wonderful thing, and you never know when love can …February 23, 2018 – Published on Amazon.comVerified Purchase‘Love is a wonderful thing, and you never know when love can happen, you just need to believe it will’ It’s very rare for me to find a book like this one and as you keep reading, there is a constant giggle that it just can’t stop. Stories like this are a reminder that no matter the age or the rough pass of time, love will still come to you, from one way or another, a mother, a relative or a close person to you will always care and get worried about you and as twisted as your life might be, there is a solution for that too. I, honestly don’t have the words to express how much I love this book, especially because two months ago one of my beloved pet passed away and while reading this, I was remembering every moment of happiness I have with him, just because we have a language, can talk and complain it doesn’t mean dogs or animals in general don’t do that too, and considering the joy a pet brings to your life, it’s normal to suggest that this story happen to all of us in a daily basis. No criticism, no suggestions, just buy and read this book, times are always difficult, no matter the perspective, but stories like this one can make everyone’s day a little bit better.

There’s a thread of unity amid battles, gunfights and arguments that is woven through this Sci-Fi Western novel from the beginning until the end. These factions are Silver or Green, something the inhabitants of Tonath find disheartening, because the disagreements about the correct star path leads to war and suffering. One character by the name of Brother Amos persists. As a Seeker, he’s rather impartial to war. In his opinion, a good map of the stars will provide clear answers and the best Pathway. Only time will tell which side, is correct about their assumptions. There are so many stars that need to be charted and many things to learn. We find him traveling with a group of Wayfarers, moving as far away from danger as possible. Among the Wayfarers is Venta, a single woman with a dream about building a refuge for divorced women called the Haven–and Jack Donald–a man with two hearts–from Thalia—another planet–who loves her. They need to escape the Green Marauders, Bentz and the Mechs so that Brother Amos can build an institute of his own and say, “We are neither Silver, nor Green. We are the Silver and the Green.”
Shakazhan begins where Lone Wolf ended, with the precipitous exit of John Riley. Aided by the evil Kahlea, Riley has disappeared to parts unknown and it’s up to Wil, Matilda and the crew of Flotilla, to find him. With the help of some powerful new friends, they once more pursue Riley to parts unknown.
November 9, 2013Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseShakazhan is the continuing saga of the Lone wolf series. Set in 3032 in deep space Wil VanLipsing and his wife Captain Matilda are on the heels of Wil’s evil son John Riley whose ship has crashed on a remote planet. John has been assimilated by an evil race after injuries require some small modifications. The action ramps up as they must stop the evil race from taking over. Written with the same wonderful characters as before including Mark Slatterly the group is drawn into battle with a few new surprises. What will Ms. Oakes think of next to entertain her readers with? I enjoyed this book just as I had with LONE WOLF. When you read this series you feel the camaraderie of the shipmates and laugh at the situations and enjoy the steamy romances. This series has something for sci-fi and romance lovers alike. There is plenty of action yet this book is aimed at an 18+ audience. I highly recommend the books to fans who like a bit of everything in a story.
October 7, 2017Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThe fae and the dragons have bad history between them. The two kings have arranged for a bonding between their children in order to bring peace and avoid war. Evangeline, the kings only child is to be given to Trevor, the dragon kings eldest son. But when his half brother, Ryland shows up to attend the ceremony, all bets are off. Fate has other plans for Evangeline and Ryland and it really throws a wrench into the what Trevor has planned for the fae princess and her people. Turns out he has help waiting in the wings to carry out his despicable and murderous plan. And it’s none other than Rylands ex best friend, Drake. This is a quick read but lacks nothing in the action, intrigue, betrayals and erotic romance departments. I do recommend this to adults only please due to some smoking hot content.
A second chance Alaska romance. Trudy worked full time and a major side hustle to get enough money for her own slice of the American dream, land. Not just a box she slapped money down on, but acreage. Only problem, it’s in interior Alaska, where the temperature can fall below minus 25. Her next-door neighbor doesn’t think this cheechako will make it without a man. Trudy has no choice, there is no backup plan. Deak has problems of his own. His wife died in an accident and he can’t move forward. Still, something about his new neighbor is appealing. Maybe it’s the dark hair she can’t seem to keep tamed that has his fingers itching.
Lynn5.0 out of 5 stars Two souls unitedReviewed in the United States on May 10, 2021This the first time reading this author and I look forward to reading more books by her. The characters, Tru and Deak, are well developed and engaging. Tru has pulled up stakes in California and moved to Alaska to homestead in a small cabin needing loads of work before winter. Deak is suffering from the accidental death of his wife. Together they are better than apart. His knowledge of the region and the locals allows Tru to get the help she needs without becoming too dependent on Deak. This story was engaging and hard to put down

Format: Kindle EditionI really enjoyed it! This story is full of mystery and unexpected twists and turns. The narration is excellent! The author did an excellent job with the character builds and plot. This was my first book by this author but definitely not my last. I look forward to reading more books in this series. I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Lived a very small rabbit who did nothing but whine.”
Thus begins the popular rhyming story Peter and the Whimper-Whineys.
This coloring book version of the best-selling “whine-stopper” children’s story was designed for kids to enjoy reading the rhyming, as well as being able to illustrate their own version of Peter’s nocturnal adventure into the woods.
Peter’s mother warns him that if he doesn’t stop whining and crying, he’ll have to go live with the Whimper-Whineys. His adventure continues as he later hops into the woods and finds lots of frightening Whimper-Whineymen! He discovers that the Whimper-Whineys are very ill-mannered and rude, and that everything is sour in Whimper-Whineland. He decides his mother was right. If only he can get back home!
According to a recent critique, “I cannot imagine any parent or guardian not wanting to read this book to their child! … Parents everywhere applaud you!”
Christine Cazes5.0 out of 5 stars READ-COLOR-LEARNReviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020Verified PurchaseDo you need a “Peter” in your house to stop your children from whining? Sherrill S. Cannon’s coloring book, “Peter and the Whimper-Whineys” is sure to solve the problem! This is a delightful lyrical story written in rhyme that truly engages young children. Peter, a small rabbit, resembles many children who want to be the boss and whine until they get their own way. This adorable award-winning story warns, “If you can’t stop that whining, I very much fear that the old Whimper-Whineys will look for you here.” Children, like Peter, learn that they don’t want to live with the old Whimper-Whineys “in a land far away, where you’ll join them in whining and crying all day.” They will smile, laugh, and eventually agree that it would be unpleasant to live with “men with no manners” who whine and cry all day long. As a reading specialist, mother, and grandmother, I highly recommend this book that teaches children the valuable skill of rhyming and reinforces the message that whining is undesirable. With the coloring book version of “Peter and the Whimper-Whineys,” children get the opportunity to visit a page for a longer period of time while they exercise their imagination and color the illustrations. In the end, they can take ownership of the book and personalize its message. This book is a “must” for every child’s library!
