Libby Bridgeman, s stringer for the Village Voice, balks when Max Howard, her editor, insists she interview Alicia Kane. Though, campus rebel, a rock superstar and an icon in the 1970s, Kane hasn’t been heard of in forty years. A Brooklyn court case involving a Black Lives Matter protest seems far more relevant. But you don’t say no to Max Howard.
While writing the article about the interview after meeting Kane, Libby receives a call from a detective—Alicia Kane is dead. Accident or suicide, the detective tells her, but Libby believes she was murdered. When Max insists that she drop the story she’s certain he knows more than he’ll tell her.
In Greenwich Village, Chicago, Niagara Falls, a Manhattan recording studio, Libby interviews people who’d known Kane. Like Max, each seems to hide something. A connection to her family? Then, one tumultuous night she learns Alicia Kane’s complete story, and this flips her world.

“In a house in the forest all covered with vines,….PETER AND THE WHIMPER WHINEYS COLORING BOOK

Lived a very small rabbit who did nothing but whine.”

Thus begins the popular rhyming story Peter and the Whimper-Whineys.

This coloring book version of the best-selling “whine-stopper” children’s story was designed for kids to enjoy reading the rhyming, as well as being able to illustrate their own version of Peter’s nocturnal adventure into the woods.

Peter’s mother warns him that if he doesn’t stop whining and crying, he’ll have to go live with the Whimper-Whineys. His adventure continues as he later hops into the woods and finds lots of frightening Whimper-Whineymen! He discovers that the Whimper-Whineys are very ill-mannered and rude, and that everything is sour in Whimper-Whineland. He decides his mother was right. If only he can get back home!

According to a recent critique, “I cannot imagine any parent or guardian not wanting to read this book to their child! … Parents everywhere applaud you!”

Christine Cazes5.0 out of 5 stars READ-COLOR-LEARNReviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020Verified PurchaseDo you need a “Peter” in your house to stop your children from whining? Sherrill S. Cannon’s coloring book, “Peter and the Whimper-Whineys” is sure to solve the problem! This is a delightful lyrical story written in rhyme that truly engages young children. Peter, a small rabbit, resembles many children who want to be the boss and whine until they get their own way. This adorable award-winning story warns, “If you can’t stop that whining, I very much fear that the old Whimper-Whineys will look for you here.”
Children, like Peter, learn that they don’t want to live with the old Whimper-Whineys “in a land far away, where you’ll join them in whining and crying all day.” They will smile, laugh, and eventually agree that it would be unpleasant to live with “men with no manners” who whine and cry all day long.
As a reading specialist, mother, and grandmother, I highly recommend this book that teaches children the valuable skill of rhyming and reinforces the message that whining is undesirable. With the coloring book version of “Peter and the Whimper-Whineys,” children get the opportunity to visit a page for a longer period of time while they exercise their imagination and color the illustrations. In the end, they can take ownership of the book and personalize its message. This book is a “must” for every child’s library!

Jack doesn’t want to fail, but he’s not sure he’s emotionally prepared to live with Victoria’s three children. Not to mention her mother, sister, dog, and needy ex-husband.

Chelsey McQuitty5.0 out of 5 stars A true to life romance!Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2018Verified PurchaseIf you’re tired of the same run of the mill romances then this one is certainly right up your alley. You won’t wind up with a huge drama that leaves you waiting for the happy ending. Rather, this romance is a lot more real to life than you can imagine. The characters are loveable, even with some of their eccentric behaviors, which is something that I especially enjoyed about the book. I also got a kick out of the humor that the author brought to the table. If you love romance stories but aren’t eager for the erotic elements that many novels have nowadays, then this is right up your alley.
I read this book was taken from a screenplay, which might be one of the main reasons it stood out to me. Of course, this means the dialogue is much stronger

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Put Down!Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2018Verified PurchaseI liked the overall book very much. I’ve already read the first and third books in the series ….. this is the fifth. I knew many of the characters from the other two books, but there were so MANY different characters in this book that I did have trouble remembering how they were related to each other. Several times I had to go back to refresh my memory. Of course, my memory isn’t as good as it was when I was young! I love the main families that these books are about, and look forward to reading more. When I have to force myself to put a book down to go do something else, I consider it a good book! Mari Collier does a bang-up job.

Praise for Faces Three: Lies: Betrayals: Fear: Who will be the next to wind up behind a stone: FACES 3: Fran Lewis
Faces behind the stones will grab you from beyond. Watch where you walk-Karen H.Vaughan: Author of Daytona Dead

Fran Lewis’ Faces Three: Lies, Betrayal, Fear shows chillingly that crime comes in many forms. So does retribution. It’s filled with delicious irony. Mark Rubinstein Author, Mad Dog House and Love Gone Mad

Walk through a cemetery, and read the names of the Faces Behind the Stones. If you listen very carefully, you may hear the voices of the unfortunate souls who are forever interred there, desperately trying to tell their stories. Murder, arson, deception, and embezzlement…these are just a few of the crimes that led to their “change in zip code.” But, the question must be asked…were they innocent victims? Or did they deserve their grizzly fates? Lies, betray, fear: you be the judge: Maxine Bringenberg: Editor

With this brilliant blend of fiction with non-fiction the book illuminates a seemingly unimportant issue which in fact is at the root of much evil in the world. Through her powerful writing, the sharp presentation and great intellectual understanding of the subject at hand the author(s) has (have) created an important piece of literature and a moral lesson which nobody in my opinion is too young, too old or too wise to hear. Outstanding: Christoph Fischer

Fans of the Stones series won‘t be disappointed. Once again, Fran Lewis has shown her great insight into human nature. Another book to make the reader wonder: Ann Stanmore Author

Such a helpful book!Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2017A wonderful, inspired book! I read it twice, cover to cover. I also purchased several other copies to give as gifts. This book has something for every person in it. When I first started reading it, it opened my eyes to a totally different way to view others and to love others. It is one woman’s journey through trials to finding a relationship with Jesus. I definitely recommend it to women (and men) of all ages.
