JOE LEVERETTE IS STILL ON THE CASE TO CATCH A VICIOUS KILLER
After an exhaustive search to find the person who dismembered a woman’s body, and her body parts spread throughout the Port Huron area, the detectives Joe Leverette and Phil Marsden are baffled. There was no ID with any part of the victim so, with the help of their lab, eventually they identified the woman as Heather North of Port Huron, Michigan. But the sensitive Carole Sage they were not able to get ahead of the murderer. The search for the suspect became one hell of a puzzle they would have to figure out.
Emlyn Goode is a writer who also happens to be a witch. Or maybe it’s the other way around. She, and her creator Susan Solomon, live in upstate New York near Niagara Falls. In this outing, Emlyn attends a meeting of her writers group and gets astrally transported to an area amusement park that’s being torn down to put up condos. She’s prompted in this trip by a new member of her group. When that new member turns up dead, Emlyn finds herself compelled to investigate. It doesn’t help that she’s a suspect and her new boyfriend, the assistant Chief of Police, has to treat her as a suspect.
The book is set around Halloween, and I happened to read it while waiting for trick-or-treaters at my house, so I found it especially timely. It’s a good cozy mystery. Emlyn needs to use her skills as a witch and good old gumshoe work to crack this case. Oh, and she’s helped by Elvira, the “talking” cat. I found this book very enjoyable.
Does your child have ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)?
Meet David, one of award-winning author Sherrill S. Cannon’s “Classroom of Kids,” who manages his ADHD with the help of classmates.
David discovers ways to cope with his hyperactive brain, while learning how to calm and soothe his ADHD. Solutions include setting daily schedules and following simple rules that regulate behavior. His teachers and therapists encourage using the computer for academic advancement, and to establish a pattern for study as well as for occasional recreation. David not only learns self-control and communication skills, but is able to fit into the classroom and make friends.
Once again social values are emphasized in the author’s latest illustrated children’s story, and classroom friends from previous books are featured. In fact, David has been part of the class for a long time!
“David’s ADHD is a timely topic for parents and children. A story in rhyme that demystifies ADHD. It explains a youngster’s behavior in terms of his inattentiveness and impulsivity and how it impacts those around him. A sensitive way of creating understanding for children with ADHD and their families.” – Dr. Valerie Allen, licensed school psychologist About the Author: Former teacher Sherrill S. Cannon has won 76 awards for her previous 11 rhyming books. She is also the author of seven published and internationally performed plays for elementary school children. The author has been called “an absolute master of rhyming” and “a modern-day Dr. Seuss.”
Christine Cazes5.0 out of 5 stars Gift of Rhyme Demystifies ADHDReviewed in the United States on February 18, 2020Verified PurchaseSherrill’s gift of rhyme clearly describes the sensitive topic of a child’s diagnosis of ADHD. Turn each page beautifully illustrated by Kalpart, and learn a parent’s frustration and a child’s inability to focus. David quickly learns that there is a way to keep organized, make more friends, and get better grades. As a Reading and Writing Specialist, I was so pleased to share this book with my colleagues in school. Today’s classrooms include many students who lack the ability to focus which interrupts their learning. Some are diagnosed with ADHD. Sherrill’s book gives good advice to parents, teachers, and children. I gave a copy of Sherrill’s book to the parent of one of my students because she worried so much about her son. She read the book and today her son is learning to calm and soothe his ADHD. I highly recommend this book that demystifies ADHD for parents, children, and teachers.

Lorenza Seldner3.0 out of 5 stars A very sweet love storyReviewed in the United States on April 23, 2021Verified PurchaseThe book follows love-chasers Leo and Gracie. Leo, a recent widower and highly superstitious, is adamant about pursuing love and a second chance in life. Gracie feels pressured by her father to join the family business; she’s been hurt in relationships in the past and decides she’s had enough of love for now. They both travel to Paris, and the romance begins.
It’s all about love, in a deeply romantic, almost silly way. Don’t expect complicated plots, twists, and mystery on this love affair. I thought the author was clever enough to present the characters clumsily, but aside from that, I would’ve liked a bit more action. I am not a fan of the “tell don’t show” approach, and I felt the author was leading me into what to think about the characters instead of letting us making an idea of our own. It’s a sweet story for all those hopeless romantics.

Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2016Verified PurchaseThis story is the sixth in the Maca of Don series. It contains the most intrigue of all the books. There are plots by the Sisters to overthrow all the Macas and kill all those who are males. There are those who support the Sisters, in both Ishner, one of the continents of Thalia and of Medicine, another continent. There is a plot to conceal two Sisters who murder the Thalian daughter of Llewellyn, the Maca of Don and his wife (called counselor). And there are questions to be answered about the Book of Gar, the Kenning Woman (does she have real visions) and their marriage. Finally there are questions to be raised about the new Maca of Ishner and how it is that no one knew who he was as he was being raised by the Maca of Don. The intricate details of the machinations of the Sisters and the others of the Council of the Realm are fascinating. After reading six books of this series I finally became convinced I knew what was going on here. The book is well written, is a cross over book but not for young teens or tweens. It is a good read that requires some willingness to do some rereading as you go along. I really enjoyed this one.

Fran Lewis writes about issues that face so many children across the country. The issue of bullying has become more of a problem now that the Internet is a factor. Bertha, a thirteen-year-old teenage girl living in the South Bronx is having trouble dealing with everyday issues that children face in school today especially someone who doesn’t fit the so called popular mold. Bertha tries to find what will work for her. After being wrongfully accused of misdoings she makes some bad choices before she learns to stand up for herself. This is a book for all teens and for adults who have children or work with children. I highly recommend Bertha and Tillie sisters Forever.
Such a helpful book!Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2017A wonderful, inspired book! I read it twice, cover to cover. I also purchased several other copies to give as gifts. This book has something for every person in it. When I first started reading it, it opened my eyes to a totally different way to view others and to love others. It is one woman’s journey through trials to finding a relationship with Jesus. I definitely recommend it to women (and men) of all ages.
LONE WOLF TALES DELLANI OAKES If you want a good look at the characters in the Lone Wolf series, you really need to read the collection of short stories that happened long before Lone wolf, Mark and Matilda worked together against the Kahlea and the Shakazhan. Reading the book, I gained a new appreciation for their past lives and the conflicts involved. I give the collection five stars and kudos to the author for weaving such complex back-stories for the main characters.
