“I think the storyline is ideal for young children” – What do Bunnies do all Day by Judy Mastrangelo

This little book of about 200 words will delight even the very young toddler. In this gentle story, illustrated by exquisite watercolors, Little Bunny learns that whatever he does is all right with Mother Bunny. Parents can use this story as an introduction to telling their own child that no matter what, he or she will still be loved.

A Child Can Relate

I think the storyline is ideal for young children. It is natural for a child to wonder, “What does a bunny do all day?” The book gives credible and understandable answers to the young bunny’s adventuresome day. Sweet drawings. I really like that the mother rabbit and the bunny are not depicted with long eyelashes and pointed noses as we often see in-store merchandise. This is a good bedtime story for a child because the last line reads, “Then she [Mother Bunny] fed Little Bunny his supper and put him to bed.”

A book for those who appreciate soft, classic, traditional illustration.

I got really interested in Judy Mastrangelo right when I first met her work. A contemporary artist doing such meticulous artwork in this classic, traditional style is a really rare thing to find. I was very intrigued and curious to read and see her books. The Star is a book illustrating the famous poem Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star by Jane Taylor. I think the book is nice. The illustrations inside the book are as lovely as the cover illustration. The ageless, soft style in pink, blue and yellow of the illustrations fits nicely this classic poem. I appreciate the dedication with which these images were made, creating a dreamy world of orderly, sweet beauty. The design and formatting of the book are ok, but I think that these illustrations deserve more refined formatting. I recommend this book for children and adults who appreciate soft, classic, traditional illustrations.

A gorgeous introduction to flowers in the garden

This is the third book I have read in this delightful series and it is the one that I loved the most. The idea of each flower being protected by its own fairy was one of my favourite fantasies as a young girl and this book with its incredible illustrations has brought my childhood dreams to life.

The second poem in this book, Parade of Flowers, is a gorgeous introduction to all the flowers in the garden and the order of their appearance and the illustration of the flower fairies marching in a line is adorable.

Each flower has its own fairy and illustration, many of which depict small children and are just so cute. My two favourite poems depicted elves. The first, Daffodil Elf, says:
“He loves to sit on his
sunny yellow Daffodil
and look out upon
the Bright Blue Sky.”
I love the bright yellow of daffodils and this poem captured my imagination.

The other poem I adored is called Sweet Pea Elves and is illustrated with two naughty little boy elves eating sweets. This is just so typical of little boys.
“Every chance they get,
they nibble on Candy, Cakes, and Cookies.
These Elves will climb up miles and miles on their vines,
to get a Yummy Treat.”

I bought this book as a Christmas present for my niece but I love it so much, I think I will be ordering one for myself.

This book is eye candy for the soul!

One look at this book cover and I knew I had to read “Mystical Fairies.” It didn’t take me long to realize that the images created by Judy Mastrangelo would enthrall every young girl (or not so young girl). The book was total eye candy! But wait! It gets better. Behind the cover, I found pure magic. Poetry, prose, artwork, and delightful fairies. The colors and details captivated me. I imagined buying the book and framing the images, so their beauty could inspire me every day. I love children’s books. Every time I read one, I remember back to when my kids and grandkids were little. They hung on each word I read and studied the pictures until they fell asleep. I can’t think of a better gift than a book for a developing young mind. Step into the world of magical fairies. You’ll never want to leave! I received a pdf copy of this book from the author. After I read the book, I had to share it!

Delightful

The Magic Blanket is a delightful story filled with fantasy creatures and magical events. A young human girl is given a beautiful blanket made by her mother. It is a magical blanket and if she believes in good magic, wonderful adventures await her. That evening, when the little girl goes to sleep, an elf from her blanket comes to life and offers to take her with him to Fantasy Land. The pair set off on a wonderful adventure and meet all sorts of interesting people.

My favourites were Sugar and Lollipop, a pair of imps who work as court jesters for the king and queen.

The book is filled with the most extraordinary artworks by the author. They are imaginative and brightly coloured and adults and children alike will love them. The last part of the book contains some fun and imaginative ideas for children’s play activities. There are also some designs for children to colour in and even a recipe for honey shortbread.

Another beautiful creation by talented artist and children’s book author, Judy Mastrangelo.

Delightful!

Wow, this book is an absolute delight! What a great story and the illustrations are perfect. I can’t wait to read it to my little great-nephew, he’ll love it. I love the way the story involves the little bunny conversing with all of nature, the sky, the land, and the water. It’s bound to spark the imagination of the young (and the young at heart) and encourage their connection with nature, and nature spirits. This book is great for balancing the heart chakra, wonderful! 🙂
