It is so well written and full of wonderful details that will pull you into Isla’s world and keep you guessing right along with her to the very last word. The world created is completely orginal and well developed. Just phenomenal. This book would be an amazing movie. I can see it so clearly in my mind. The planet, the buildings, the characters, all the tiny details, and the battles would be visually stunning. I’m such a fan of A. Nicky Hjort, and The City is another fantastic read from a very talented author. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and any other works by Nicky. Excellent, exciting, thought-provoking, enthralling read!
September 12, 2017Format: Kindle EditionI sincerely want more!! I just had a blast reading this story. I felt it was gripping and anyone who is a fan of the dystopian/thriller genres would enjoy it. It’s somewhat similar to other dystopian novels, as it’s hard to be completely original, however, I found Hjort’s tone gave this story something different that I enjoyed exploring as I read each new page.
In the future, biohacking has taken humanity to the brink of evolutionary advantage as Artificially Integrated Persons perform at maximal potential, but for Jagga, his utopia turns into a nightmare.

Great short story and worked great as a science fiction novel
This was a great short story and worked great as a science fiction novel. I enjoyed getting to go on this journey and getting to know the characters. It was well written.
Elise Phillips, a doctor in training, has successfully repressed her kidnapping five years prior. The only problem is…she has six and one-half days to remember every terrible detail or a total stranger will die. But to make matters even worse, in order to save this nameless woman, Elise will have to face something that scares her even more than death–intimacy.

I know this much is true: This book has seriously messed with my mind! Outstanding book! Dark, intriguing, suspenseful, mind-twisting, grab you by your throat and pull you into a true nightmare kind of read! So well written with a truly twisted storyline that will not let you go until you reach the very end. These characters were very well-written and truly complex.
Evil walks the earth and he strikes every year on the same date and same time. Jill was the first, but she go away, so every year he tries to get someone just like her to replace her and become his “Queen”. This man, Kincade is truly twisted and no one knows just how twisted until you live through his hunt for his next victim.
I’m not going to go into the storyline as I feel that doing so would give too much away and you really need to read it for yourself to be able to grasp it.
I highly recommend this book.

Little Livie is a shining star. I just adore her. It was suspenseful, shocking, and beautiful all at the same time. There are so many layers to Nicky’s writing. Highly recommended for a complex, thought-provoking read that goes so much deeper than a murder mystery.
